Americans for Small Business’ Survey Reveals Economic and Policy Concerns

Washington, D.C. – Small business owners across the country are facing significant challenges in today’s economy, but don’t feel the government is addressing their needs. Americans for Small Business surveyed small business owners to gauge their sentiments on government support, economic hurdles, and the critical issues impacting their businesses.

“We’re hearing directly from small business owners. It’s clear that many don’t feel heard or supported,” said Samir Kapadia from Americans for Small Business. “It’s time for policymakers to listen to these voices and take action.”

Here’s what small business owners shared:

  • Government Support: Only 30% of small business owners believe the government adequately understands or addresses their needs.
  • Economic Concerns: Over 50% of respondents highlight the rising costs of goods and supplies due to inflation as their biggest challenge.
  • Healthcare Costs: 37% of small business owners say healthcare costs make it impossible to offer insurance for their employees.

These insights are drawn from a survey conducted by Americans for Small Business between June 14 and June 20, 2024. The survey polled 1,000 small businesses nationwide, including business owners, partners, and C-level executives from companies with 500 or fewer employees, evenly split between B2C and B2B businesses.
